About us

The Vancouver Sport Fishing Guides Association (VSFGA) was formed in 1992 to bring together local professional charter operators and guides committed to providing world class guest experiences through support of a vibrant public recreational fishery in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Through partnership and collaboration with organizations such as SFI (Sport Fishing Institute), SFAB (Sport Fishing Advisory Board), PFA (Public Fishery Alliance), PSF (Pacific Salmon Foundation), and DFO (Department of Fisheries & Oceans), the VSFGA is committed to providing an ongoing voice for the Vancouver recreational fishery. The public recreational fishery represents a lifestyle and is part of our heritage on the west coast. A strong recreational fishery not only contributes to substantial economic benefits throughout the economy, but it also ensures that necessary funding and countless volunteer hours continue to be directed toward enhancement and conservation activities within the province of British Columbia.

VSFGA Objectives

  • Establish a set of standards enabling association members to be leaders within the guided fishing community

  • Maintain and promote the existence of a body of professional charter operators and guides committed to these standards

  • Maintain partnerships with relevant agencies to assist and contribute to the effective management, conservation, and sustainability of public sport fishing resources

  • Members meet or exceed all required certification standards and training required to legally operate a small commercial vessel as defined by Transport Canada

  • Members have full knowledge of all requirements necessary to legally engage in sport fishing activities in British Columbia, Canada
